As you start your 1st year as an assistant principal or a veteran assistant principal in a new building, I would you to consider or ponder on these tips. They are:
1. Be You. Be authentic.
2. Build trusting relationships
3. Understand your role
4. Take care of your teachers
5. Ask lots of questions
6. Make decisions with students in mind
7. Know and follow your school and district policies
8. Communicate often and with purpose
9. Have a meeting agenda and value teacher’s time
10. Organize your priorities & work
11. Get into the classroom
12. Own your growth
13. Find balance. Take time for yourself and family
